Hens Weekend Ideas in the Hunter Valley Beyond the Cellar Door
The best hens weekend ideas in the Hunter Valley beyond the cellar door are a Stretch and Sip experience on the lawn, a private cocktail masterclass, a Sunday morning sound bath, a Pilates experience before a long lunch, a private grazing table at your accommodation, and a gentle recovery morning. Each is hosted at your accommodation, so no additional transport is required.
Why a weekend of cellar doors alone rarely lands
Every Hunter Valley hens weekend starts the same way, and for good reason. The wine is the point.
But if you have hosted one, you know the shape of it. Friday evening arrives full of energy. Saturday morning begins beautifully. By about three o'clock on Saturday afternoon, somewhere between the fourth cellar door and the fifth, the group has quietly separated into those still enthusiastically tasting and those sitting in the car looking at their phones.
The weekends that guests talk about for years afterwards are not the ones with the most tastings. They are the ones with rhythm. Something lively, then something restorative, then something lively again.
Wine Body & Spirits curates mobile wellness experiences across the Hunter Valley, Sydney and Australia's major wine regions. We come to your accommodation, which means these experiences slot between your cellar door bookings without anyone needing to organise another car.
Six ideas that give a hens weekend its rhythm
1. Stretch and Sip on the lawn. Our signature experience and the most requested for hens weekends. Sixty minutes of gentle, unserious yoga flows directly into a curated wine or spirits tasting. It is the ideal Saturday late-afternoon experience: everyone reconvenes, everyone relaxes, and the evening begins properly rather than accidentally.
2. A private cocktail masterclass. Hosted at your accommodation. Guests learn to build two or three cocktails and then, quite naturally, drink them. It is the most social experience we host and it suits the group who would decline anything involving a mat.
3. A Sunday morning sound bath. The single best final morning we curate. Guests lie still while a facilitator plays crystal singing bowls, chimes and gongs. Nobody has to move, nobody has to be fit, and nobody has to be entirely recovered from Saturday. Guests routinely describe it as the moment the weekend landed.
4. Pilates before the long lunch. Forty-five to sixty minutes on the lawn or the terrace, mid-morning. Gentle, strengthening and precisely the kind of thing that makes a three-hour lunch feel earned rather than indulgent.
5. A private grazing table at your accommodation. Available as an add-on per guest, subject to availability. It resolves the awkward gap between arriving on Friday and deciding where to have dinner.
6. A gentle recovery morning. For groups who would rather not begin Sunday with anything structured, a slow 60-minute stretch and breathe or sound bath experience onsite before checkout. Quiet, unhurried, and a considerably kinder farewell than a hurried pack-up.

What does it cost?
A wellness experience on its own, whether yoga, Pilates, meditation, sound bath or group fitness, starts from $49 per guest.
Our two-hour signature experiences, pairing movement with a curated tasting or cocktail masterclass, start from $129 per guest. The rate depends on whether we host you at a venue we book or come to your accommodation, and on whether you choose a tasting or a cocktail masterclass.
Experiences are curated for two to 25 guests and can be booked online. A private hosting fee applies to smaller groups, which covers the facilitator, the set-up and the travel that do not change with your numbers. Groups above 25 are curated as bespoke experiences.
Add-ons including a brunch or Aperitivo grazing table and additional cocktails are available from a minimum of eight guests, subject to availability.
Tell us your dates, your numbers and where you are staying, and we will send a tailored quote.
What should you book first?
Accommodation, then us, then cellar doors.
Cellar doors are flexible and can be rearranged. Accommodation for a group is not. And our facilitators are confirmed four to six weeks ahead, which is our published lead time for hens weekends.
Once you know where you are staying, book your experience. The cellar doors will fit around it comfortably.
Frequently asked questions
Do you come to our accommodation? Yes. Every experience is mobile and hosted wherever you are staying, whether that is a private house, a vineyard cottage or a hotel.
What if it rains? Where we arrange your venue, both indoor and outdoor options are secured. Where you have booked your own accommodation, we recommend confirming an indoor space is available as well as the lawn or outdoor area.
What if some of the group would rather not do yoga? A cocktail masterclass, meditation or a sound bath suits mixed groups beautifully, as none requires movement or activewear. Guests can also simply watch with a glass in hand, which happens more often than you would expect and bothers nobody.
How many guests can join? Two to 25, bookable online. A private hosting fee applies to smaller groups. Groups above 25 are curated as bespoke experiences.
Is there a minimum age? Yes. Where your experience includes a tasting or a cocktail masterclass, all guests must be 18 or over.
How far in advance should we book? Four to six weeks. Weekends between October and April book earliest.
