Planning a Girls’ Weekend in the Hunter Valley: A Wellness Itinerary

A well-paced Hunter Valley girls' weekend alternates between indulgence and restoration. Arrive Friday afternoon, host a grazing table and cocktail masterclass that evening, spend Saturday across two cellar doors with a Stretch and Sip at 5pm, and close with a Sunday morning sound bath before checkout. Book accommodation first, wellness experiences second, cellar doors last.

Why pacing matters more than the itinerary itself

The Hunter Valley is generous. There are more cellar doors, restaurants and long lunches than any weekend can reasonably hold, which is precisely the problem.

The groups who leave feeling genuinely restored are not the ones who fit the most in. They are the ones who alternated. Something lively, then something quiet. A tasting, then a stretch. A long lunch, then an hour lying on a lawn listening to singing bowls.

Wine Body & Spirits curates mobile wellness experiences across the Hunter Valley, Sydney and Australia's major wine regions. Everything below is hosted at your accommodation, so the itinerary requires one set of transport arrangements rather than several.

The itinerary

Friday

3pm: Arrive and settle. Allow longer than you think. Two hours between arrival and anything scheduled means guests unpack properly rather than dropping bags and rushing.

6pm: Grazing table and welcome drink, hosted at your accommodation. It resolves the awkward first evening question of where to eat before anyone is quite ready to go out.

7pm: Cocktail masterclass or sound bath. Sixty minutes, hosted on site. A cocktail class builds two or three cocktails and drinks them, or you can ease into the weekend with a sound bath instead.

Saturday

8am: Slow breakfast. No scheduling. The morning should feel unhurried.

9am: Stretch and Sip. Our signature experience, and the reason this itinerary works. Sixty minutes of gentle, unserious movement on the lawn flows directly into a curated wine or spirits tasting at your first cellar door. Two hours total.

11.30am: Second cellar door. Two is plenty before lunch.

12.30pm: Long lunch. Book this properly. It is the anchor of the day.

3pm: Third cellar door, or an hour by the pool, depending on the group. Both are correct answers.

5pm: Aperitivo hour at a local bar, or a grazing table and private wine tasting hosted at your accommodation. Everyone needs a nibble by this point after a full day of tastings and a long lunch.

This placement is not arbitrary. Five o'clock on Saturday is the exact hour a weekend away either lifts or fades. You want to either kick things up a notch or make your way back to the accommodation. Either way, grazing charcuterie, or getting some food and water into everyone, is highly recommended. Waiting until 7pm onwards for dinner just allows things to get messy, or guests to get hungry and short-tempered.

7.30pm: Dinner out or in. By this point the group has found its rhythm and either works.

Sunday

9am: Sound bath. Guests lie still for 45 to 60 minutes while a facilitator plays crystal singing bowls, chimes and gongs. No movement, no fitness, no experience required, and no obligation to be entirely recovered from Saturday. If you are with a group that loves their fitness, you could opt for a dip in the pool and a Pilates or group fitness experience to wake you up for the drive home.

Sound bath is the most consistently loved experience we host on a final morning.

10am: Breakfast and farewell.

What to book first

Accommodation. Group accommodation in the Hunter Valley is the constraint. Everything else is flexible.

Wellness experiences. Four to six weeks ahead. Our facilitators are confirmed within that window. Last-minute bookings inside that timeframe are subject to availability, but possible.

Long lunch. Saturday lunch bookings for larger groups fill early, especially in peak season.

Cellar doors. Last. These are the easiest to arrange and the easiest to move.

What should you budget?

A wellness experience on its own starts from $49 per guest. Our two-hour signature experiences, pairing movement with a curated tasting or a cocktail masterclass, start from $129 per guest.

What you actually pay depends on three things: how many of you there are, whether we host you at a venue we book or come to your accommodation, and whether you choose a tasting or a cocktail masterclass. A private hosting fee applies to smaller groups, which covers the facilitator and set-up that do not change with your numbers.

Add-ons including a brunch or Aperitivo grazing table and additional cocktails are available from a minimum of eight guests, subject to availability. Food and beverage beyond the tasting is quoted through your venue.

For a weekend like the one above, send us your dates and numbers and we will come back with a single, itemised quote covering every experience in the itinerary.

If your group is flexible on dates, arriving Monday and departing Wednesday is worth considering. The valley is considerably quieter, accommodation prices drop, and our facilitator availability is at its strongest.

Frequently asked questions

How many people do we need? Two to 25 guests are bookable online. Smaller groups are very welcome; a private hosting fee applies. Groups of 26 or more are curated bespoke.

Do you come to our accommodation? Yes. Every experience is mobile and hosted wherever you are staying, or at one of our partner venues if you would prefer we arrange it.

What if some of us have never done yoga? Most of our guests have not. Experiences are curated for complete beginners, and nobody is singled out or corrected in front of the group.

Can we do a weekend without any wine? Absolutely. Non-alcoholic pairings and mocktails are available, subject to venue and partner availability, and every movement experience can be hosted on its own. We cater comfortably for guests who are pregnant or not drinking within a group that has chosen an experience with alcohol.

What if it rains? Where we arrange your venue, both indoor and outdoor options are secured. Where you have booked your own accommodation, confirm an indoor space as well as the lawn.

Explore our private group experiences, or tell us your dates and we will help you shape the weekend around them.
